BOOK DONATIONS
Whittier is fortunate to have a community that is so supportive; families regularly donate books to the library. Beginning last year, we started a new Birthday Book Club. You can celebrate your child's birthday by donating a new book - perhaps your child's favorite - to the library. A bookplate inside will have your child's name and the date of the donation. If your child prefers, he or she may choose a book from the library "wish list" of titles. For more information, please contact Ms. Roberts.
BORROWING POLICIES
Check-out Students in grades 1 through 5 are allowed to borrow up to four books at a time for a total of two weeks; books may be renewed at the end of that time. Students may exceed the book limit for research projects. At the start of the school year, kindergarten students are allowed to borrow two books and must keep them in their desks in the classroom; beginning in November, they may take their books home.

Overdue/Lost Books There are no overdue fines at Whittier, although having one or more overdue books limits the number of additional books that a student may check out. Overdue notices are periodically sent home with students; if you receive one, please help your child look for the books at home. Library policy was recently revised to address the increasing expense of replacing lost books; requests for reimbursement for lost books will be sent home during the school year.

PARENTS Children at Whittier borrow books from the library each week and bring them home to share with you. Please help them to find a safe place to keep their Whittier Library books separate from other Library books. This helps to keep them from being returned to the Public Libraries.
